Job summary

City of Burnaby is seeking a senior manager to oversee the Solid Waste & Recycling Division and the Signs and Road Markings Division. You will lead program delivery, manage staff, budgets and contracts, and ensure regulatory compliance across multiple operations.

Reporting to the Director of Public Works, you will guide strategic planning, risk management and performance targets while collaborating with other departments to maintain service excellence for residents and businesses in Burnaby.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Engineering Technology, Environmental Studies and/or related field with a minimum of 10 years of progressive and related supervisory experience in municipal solid waste and recycling.
• Thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures, materials and equipment used in solid waste & recycling and signs and road markings programs, and familiarity with bylaws, policies, WorkSafe regulations.
• Ability to lead, supervise and motivate staff, manage complex projects, budgeting and risk mitigation; proficient with SAP, MS Office and Infor.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operations of the Solid Waste & Recycling Division and Signs and Road Markings Division.
• Plan, direct and review program operations, service contracts and capital purchases.
• Supervise staff, manage staffing levels and performance; handle labour relations matters as appropriate.
• Coordinate budgets, contracts and regulatory compliance including WorkSafeBC.
