Job summary

Russel Metals in Halifax is seeking personnel for material handling and equipment operation. You will run overhead crane and forklift, pick, package, and load/unload material according to customer specifications, while performing routine maintenance and upholding safety standards.

The role requires ability to lift heavy loads, work Monday to Friday with two shifts, and maintain accurate measurements and quality service. Competitive benefits and pension are offered.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Able to work Monday to Friday, typically 8am - 4pm and 4pm - 12am.
• Able to perform some heavy lifting, bending over to hook up loads, standing for periods of time and climbing.
• Good knowledge of math and measurements.
• Good communication skills.
• Self motivated, results oriented.

Responsibilities

• Running overhead crane, forklift and use other types of hand tools as required.
• Picking and packaging material according to customer specifications.
• Operation of saw equipment and various other machinery types.
• Loading and unloading trucks.
• Performing daily preventative maintenance.
• Ensuring quality customer service.
• Able to perform some heavy lifting.
• Comply with workplace policies and procedures (operational, quality and health and safety).
• Willing to work shifts.
