Job summary

Russel Metals seeks a full-time Material Handler in Pembroke, ON to support plant personnel, process orders to customer specifications, and work day shifts in a safety-conscious environment.

Responsibilities include operating the overhead crane, forklift, and cutting equipment, ensuring accurate packing and shipping, and maintaining quality standards. Join a team focused on safety, efficiency, and reliable service.

We are currently seeking someone who is eager to learn, committed to having a safe and healthy workplace and to ensuring the delivery of quality products for the full-time position of Material Handler in our Pembroke, ON Branch. The Material Handler will assist and support plant personnel to efficiently process orders to customer specifications. This position will work the day shift.

Vacancy Status: New headcount

Due to our safety sensitive work environment, employment is conditional upon successfully passing a medical assessment including drug testing.

Job Responsibilities

  • Complete pre-inspection equipment reports before each shift (usually the senior employee on shift)
  • Perform all tasks safely and as directed
  • Comply with all workplace policies including health and safety
  • Be a team player
  • Perform all tasks in a professional, respectful manner
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned by management
  • Participate in all company directed training
  • Inspect and stamp packing slips of incoming material from both suppliers and inter branch orders
  • Ensure all inter branch orders for furtherance are correct
  • Pick and process material for shipment to customer including sawing, shearing, or spray painting as required
  • Ensure safe procedures are followed while loading and unloading material on or off trucks.
  • Ensure all processing sheets are filled out, clearly, legible and handed in after each job is completed
  • Perform all housekeeping responsibilities after each job is completed
  • Ensure that all heat #’s are clearly identified if shipping product with more than one heat as per ISO policy

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and understand English
  • Ability to operate the overhead crane
  • Ability to operate forklift
  • Ability to operate band saw, shear and chop saw as required
  • Be on time for all shifts as scheduled

Wage: $25.71
