Overview
The Warehouse Operations Supervisor is responsible for the efficient day-to-day operation of the warehouse, with a focus on supervising warehouse personnel and achieving daily production goals.
Available: Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Responsibilities
- Operations Management
- Develop and implement shipping and receiving schedules to ensure effective operations that meet goals.
- Supervise warehouse personnel, matching skills and backgrounds to job requirements.
- Oversee inbound and outbound shipments for accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure equipment is used efficiently and coordinate maintenance with management.
- Review daily work objectives and determine productivity requirements to meet overall goals.
- Collaborate with other leaders to balance labor and ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Draft and submit daily end-of-shift reports.
- Recommend and work on initiatives to improve operations.
- Employee Relations and Development
- Conduct daily pre-shift meetings covering previous shift productivity, operational issues, and workload forecasts.
- Assist in developing training and motivation programs for personnel.
- Implement onboarding programs for new hires.
- Maintain good human resources practices and adhere to policies.
- Work with HR to resolve employee issues, discipline, and terminations.
- Provide feedback, coaching, and recognition to personnel.
- Participate in employee development and talent selection.
- Provide performance feedback and conduct hourly reviews.
- Maintain accurate timekeeping records.
- Stay current on relevant tools, systems, and industry information.
- Travel to other warehouses and attend meetings as needed.
- Safety and Security
- Ensure safe, clean, and efficient warehouse operations to meet service standards.
- Support safety programs and OSHA compliance.
- Report and analyze employee injuries and accidents following documented procedures.
- Ensure employees complete daily safety checks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field, or 1-5 years of supervisory experience.
- High School Diploma required.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (Manhattan preferred).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Good judgment in stressful situations and ability to handle changing priorities.
- Experience with seasonal workforces is a plus.
- Interest in performance metrics, process improvement, Lean/Six Sigma tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and warehouse/mechanical equipment.
- Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT, FDA regulations; willingness to get certified.
- Strong talent management and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, non-verbal, written).
- Customer service skills, especially with external clients.
- Analytical and mathematical skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Flexible to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand/walk for 10-12 hours and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in variable noise, lighting, and temperature conditions.
