Background and Purpose of the Role:

The North America Warehouse Manager oversees the day-to-day operations and strategic continuous improvement projects in one or more of the seven Distribution Centers in the US and Canada. They are responsible for managing the 3rd party logistics provider (3PL) relationship, storage & handling of finished goods through the DC network, and the loading of customer orders within budget guidelines. Additionally, the Warehouse Manager will manage on-time loading, maximize customer case fill at optimal costs, and ensure compliance with quality, environmental, and safety standards as per Unilever guidelines.

Who You Are and What You Will Do:

Your primary responsibilities include:

  1. Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with 3PLs to improve service levels, reduce costs, increase productivity, simplify processes, and reduce losses.
  2. Leading daily standup meetings with DC teams, publishing weekly KPIs, and participating in bi-annual 3PL leadership reviews.
  3. Collaborating with 3PLs to enhance productivity, collect and analyze material movement data, maintain DC profiles, track savings programs, and meet business needs.
  4. Ensuring operational excellence in customer service, order accuracy, secured loads, and readiness for dock pickup.
  5. Maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring SAP and WMS systems are accurate, and following FEFO procedures for product receipt and order fulfillment.
  6. Managing yard operations to unload trailers within 24 hours to prevent accessorial charges and ensure product availability.
  7. Accurately assigning reason codes for cuts, OT loading, stock returns, and rejections during shipment or receipt.
Drive site-level compliance with 3PLs by ensuring:
  • Operations adhere to SHEQ and food safety standards.
  • Continuous improvement programs are implemented, root causes analyzed, and corrective actions taken.
  • Engagement with government and local authorities regarding site operations.
  • The site contingency plan (BPC) is active and maintained.
Coordinate across Unilever teams to optimize DC operations by:
  • Managing month-end close processes.
  • Providing input to optimize transport capacity and trailer pools with 3PLs and transportation teams.
  • Processing supplier invoices and payments efficiently.
  • Supporting procurement in contract negotiations and pallet management; investigating customer claims and managing repacks for integrated sites.
What You Will Need to Succeed:

Required:

  • Ability to travel approximately 20% to and from the DC.
  • 4-year university degree in supply chain, engineering, or business.
  • Industry certifications in APICS, Six Sigma, or lean principles.
  • Strong business acumen related to supply chain and operations.
  • At least 5 years of experience in supply chain or distribution operations.
  • Experience managing 3PLs.
  • Exposure to order-to-cash, procure-to-pay cycles, and supply chain planning.
  • Budgeting and planning experience.

Preferred:

  • Master of Business Administration or advanced logistics degree.
  • Experience in FMCG industry.
