Job summary

Aerotek in Calgary is seeking a Warehouse Dock Worker to safely load, unload, and stage freight in a fast-paced cross-dock environment. You will operate sit-down forklifts to move freight for multiple destinations and ensure accurate paperwork and labeling.

The role requires at least three years of sit-down forklift experience, a valid forklift certification, and the ability to lift 50–60 lbs regularly. Night shifts run 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., Sunday–Thursday, with occasional overtime.

Qualifications

Job Description

The dock worker safely loads, unloads, and stages freight in a fast-paced cross-dock environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy, documentation, and housekeeping. This role operates sit-down forklifts to handle freight for multiple destinations, ensures trailers and containers are efficiently packed and secured for transit, and supports smooth warehouse operations through careful paperwork, labeling, and organization.

Responsibilities

• Unload trailers and containers in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring freight is handled safely at all times.

• Load outbound trailers using a preplan manifest, tracking every skid loaded and marking items to maintain 100% accuracy.

• Maximize trailer space by utilizing every inch of the trailer and stacking freight appropriately using load tables, load bars, and other equipment.

• Secure all freight properly for transit using straps, load bars, plywood, and other dunnage materials.

• Offload city pickups using offload manifests, verifying that all freight removed from trailers matches the documentation.

• Place offloaded freight in the correct designated lanes based on destination (e.g., Delta, Kelowna, Kamloops, Edmonton, Prairies, Ontario, Calgary, Interline).

• Complete preloads for night runs and interline carriers using PL manifests, loading freight in the specified order to facilitate easy offloading for customers.

• Sticker inbound container freight with CA labels when required and follow the same process as other inbound offloads.

• Stage 5-ton trucks with the correct freight so drivers can efficiently load for delivery.

• Lift and move freight weighing approximately 5060 lbs as needed throughout the shift.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 3 years of sit-down forklift experience in a warehouse, transportation, or cross-dock environment.

• Valid in-house or third-party forklift certification for sit-down forklift operation.

• Proven experience with cross-dock operations, including loading and unloading trailers and staging freight by destination.

• Ability to lift and handle freight weighing 5060 lbs on a regular basis.

• Strong reading and writing skills to accurately follow manifests, labels, and documentation.

Work Environment

• The position is based in a busy transportation freight terminal located in an established business park, functioning as a warehouse and distribution center for a variety of major retail and commercial clients, including seasonal merchandise. The operation is consistently busy, with high freight volumes and periods of overtime, especially when large product lines occupy significant warehouse space.

• The shift runs from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday , with the expectation of being open to overtime as required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Calgary, AB.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
