Job summary

Unity Technologies in Montreal, Canada is seeking a graphics engineer to join the Vulkan Graphics team and help ship a new renderer across the platforms Unity supports.

You will work at the core of Unity's graphics stack, optimize CPU/GPU performance, and help bring up new Vulkan capabilities as hardware evolves.

The role emphasizes real-time 3D rendering, cross‑platform APIs, debugging, and collaboration with engine teams to solve complex rendering challenges.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in C++ for performance-critical, multi-threaded systems.
  • Hands-on experience with modern graphics APIs (Direct3D 12, Metal, or Vulkan).
  • Understanding of real-time 3D graphics, GPU architecture, resource management and synchronization.
  • Ability to diagnose rendering bugs and performance issues with standard tools.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with interest in rendering and cross-platform development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Unity's Vulkan renderer, delivering a consistent, high-quality rendering experience across platforms.
  • Push performance on CPU and GPU — frame time, memory, and hardware utilization.
  • Bring up new Vulkan and GPU capabilities as graphics hardware evolves.
  • Contribute to the cross‑platform abstraction enabling Unity to target multiple graphics APIs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and higher‑level engine teams to solve problems.
  • Participate in technical design reviews and code reviews.
