Job summary

Ubisoft Montréal is seeking a VFX Artist to craft impactful real-time visual effects that elevate gameplay and immersive worlds. You will design, integrate, and optimize effects directly in the game engine, collaborating with multiple teams to ensure performance and artistic quality.

Qualifications

  • Real-time visual effects experience in games or interactive media.
  • Knowledge of 3D production pipelines (modeling, texturing, lighting).
  • Familiarity with 2D art tools, compositing software and 3D software.
  • Understanding art fundamentals: lighting, composition, color theory.
  • Experience with vector math applied to VFX.
  • Ability to receive feedback and adapt work.
  • Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and clear communication.
  • Experience with procedural tools or shader workflows is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with creative direction to define VFX priorities.
  • Create environmental effects using particle systems and textures.
  • Partner with programming teams to support tool development.
  • Design VFX that respect technical constraints and artistic impact.
  • Integrate VFX into the game engine for real-time performance.
  • Refine and optimize effects based on playtest results.
  • Troubleshoot VFX technical issues as needed.
  • Adjust effects based on feedback from teams.
  • Consider community feedback post-launch when relevant.
