Job summary

City of Thunder Bay is seeking a proactive Volunteer Program Coordinator to lead the Recreation & Culture division's volunteer efforts across city programs and major events. You will recruit, train, engage, and recognize volunteers while ensuring they are prepared and supported for roles in festivals and community initiatives.

You will develop recruitment strategies, manage an online volunteer system, and coordinate orientation and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Experience in volunteer management with staff and volunteers.
• Experience developing policies, procedures and training.
• Experience in community development, recreation and marketing.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, promotion and delivery of the Recreation & Culture volunteer program.
• Recruit, train and support volunteers for programs and events.
• Administer online volunteer management software and provide training.
• Coordinate volunteer orientation, youth/new volunteer training and ongoing staff training.
• Supervise volunteers at major events and plan annual recognition.
• Develop marketing strategies and coordinate outreach for recruitment.
• Review policies and Volunteer Code of Conduct, update Handbooks as needed.
