Job summary

Baptist Housing in White Rock, BC is seeking a Part-Time Volunteer Coordinator to develop, manage and enhance our volunteer program across Evergreen communities, fostering vibrant and supportive environments for seniors.

You will work with chaplains and care teams to align volunteer placements with residents' spiritual, physical, and social needs, promoting Baptist Housing's values and community impact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or post-secondary education in Social Sciences, HR, Admin, or related field
  • Minimum of two years of experience in volunteer management or related role, ideally in senior care or faith-based setting
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Access to personal transportation and willingness to travel between Evergreen communities in White Rock
  • Signing and adherence to the Statement of Faith of Baptist Housing

Responsibilities

  • Volunteer Leadership & Christian Ministry: Demonstrate servant leadership and model Christian values with volunteers, residents, and team members

As the Volunteer Coordinator, you will play a key role in developing, managing, and enhancing our volunteer program across our Evergreen communities in White Rock, fostering vibrant and supportive environments for seniors.

About The Role

You will work closely with chaplains, care teams, and local churches to coordinate volunteer placements that align with residents' spiritual, physical, and social needs. This role is centered around Christian ministry and leadership, requiring someone who embodies and promotes Baptist Housing's Christian values of compassion, honesty, respect, innovation, stewardship, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Leadership & Christian Ministry
  • Demonstrate servant leadership by modeling Jesus Christ's values in all interactions with volunteers, residents, and team members.
  • Foster a culture of Christian values that aligns with the mission and vision of Baptist Housing.
  • Provide one-on-one spiritual care, including prayers, devotionals, or worship activities, as needed.
Volunteer Program Development
  • Design, implement, and evaluate volunteer programs to meet residents' needs.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules and placements, ensuring seamless integration with care teams and chaplains.
  • Provide regular reports on volunteer program effectiveness and recommend improvements based on data analysis.
Volunteer Recruitment & Screening
  • Recruit volunteers from local faith communities, academic institutions, community organizations, and other care service groups to provide a variety of meaningful activities includingspiritual care services, such as worship services, scripture reading, and prayer.
  • Oversee a thorough screening process, including reference checks, criminal record checks, and interviews.
  • Promote volunteer opportunities through community outreach, newsletters, and media campaigns.
Volunteer Training and Support
  • Orient and train volunteers on their roles, emphasizing Baptist Housing's values, safety protocols, and resident care standards.
  • Provide ongoing guidance, conflict resolution, and feedback to ensure volunteers are supported.
  • Coordinate with chaplains to train spiritual care volunteers to meet residents' spiritual needs.
Volunteer Retention and Recognition
  • Plan and implement recognition events to celebrate volunteer contributions and foster retention.
  • Analyze volunteer feedback and data to enhance program effectiveness and satisfaction.
  • Recommend additional training or development opportunities to support volunteer growth.
Team Collaboration and Support
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to ensure volunteer placements complement holistic resident care.
  • Promote a culture of health and safety by identifying hazards and enforcing safe practices in volunteer activities.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, external partners, and local communities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or post-secondary education in Social Sciences, Human Resources, Administration, Adult Education, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in volunteer management or a related role, ideally in senior care or a faith-based setting.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.
  • Access to personal transportation and willingness to travel between our Evergreen communities in White Rock.
  • Signing and adherence to the Statement of Faith of Baptist Housing.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer an hourly wage between $28.00 - $30.00. Your comprehensive benefits include employer-paid extended health and dental coverage, along with a generous four weeks of vacation. Additionally, we provide RRSP matching contributions and support for your ongoing professional development.
