Job summary

Calgary Foothills Soccer Club is seeking a Video Analyst Lead to drive the club’s video analysis curriculum for U12–U17 teams. You will turn match footage and performance data into coaching insights, deliver classroom sessions, and support KPI tracking and performance reporting.

The role is on-site in Calgary, ~25 hours per week, with daytime/evening hours and weekend duties as needed. Relevant licenses and tools knowledge are required; police check and Safe Sport training are prerequisites.

Qualifications

• Canada Soccer C Licence (or higher).
• Degree in Education or related field.
• NCCP Making Ethical Decisions training.
• NCCP Rule of Two training.
• Experience with Veo, PSD, Playermaker, Sportscode or similar; Microsoft Excel is an asset.

About the Performance Department

The Performance Department delivers an integrated, evidence-based approach built around Video Analysis, Sport Science, Individual Development Plans (IDPs), Performance Data & Analytics, and Coach Education. Staff collaborate across disciplines to provide athletes with a complete development experience aligned to the Foothills Way curriculum.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Performance, the Video Analyst Lead oversees the delivery of the club’s video analysis curriculum while supporting coaches and players through match analysis, classroom education, performance reporting, and operational leadership. This role combines technical expertise, coaching ability, and organizational skills to advance player development across the club.

The successful candidate will support a defined group of U12–U17 teams and work closely with their coaches to turn match footage and performance data into age-appropriate learning.

Player Development Curriculum

Players participate in weekly or bi-weekly classroom sessions covering the Four Moments of the Game:

• In Possession
• Out of Possession
• Attacking Transition
• Defensive Transition

Sessions are aligned with age-specific learning outcomes and position-specific KPIs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of the club’s video analysis curriculum.
• Facilitate engaging classroom sessions for U12–U17 players (30–60 minutes).
• Clip matches and training sessions using Veo and analysis software.
• Produce player highlight videos and individual feedback clips.
• Support opposition analysis and match reviews.
• Maintain player video libraries and performance databases.
• Assist with KPI tracking, IDPs, and performance reporting.
• Coordinate Veo camera scheduling and equipment.
• Maintain video equipment and ensure footage is organized.
• Create reports and presentations using Microsoft Office and video editing software.
• Support Performance Department initiatives as assigned.

Core Experience & Skills

• Soccer coaching and/or performance analysis experience.
• Strong tactical understanding of the game.
• Experience analyzing soccer matches and communicating tactical observations.
• Ability to select clips that support clear coaching and learning objectives.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Confidence leading classroom sessions with groups of 15–20 players.
• Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
• Strong digital literacy and confidence learning new analysis platforms.

Additional Qualifications & Assets

• Canada Soccer C Licence (or higher).
• Degree in Education, or a related field.
• NCCP Making Ethical Decisions and NCCP Rule of Two training.
• Experience with Veo, ProSoccerData (PSD), Playermaker, Hudl Sportscode (or similar), Microsoft Excel, Adobe Creative Suite is an asset, but training will be provided.

Pre-Employment Requirements

The successful candidate must complete a Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, and all required Safe Sport training before beginning work with players.

Professional Development

Successful candidates will receive mentorship from the Director of Performance, gain experience within an integrated high-performance environment, work with teams competing from youth high-performance through Alberta Player League (APL) and participate in ongoing staff education and professional development.

Hours & Compensation

• Approximately 25 hours per week.
• Primarily daytime and evening hours, with occasional weekend responsibilities.
• Competitive hourly wage based on experience and qualifications.
