Vice President – Rail Systems Integration
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

A leading international engineering and transportation consultancy is seeking an accomplished Vice President – Rail Systems Integration to join its senior leadership team in Toronto.

This is a strategic leadership position responsible for overseeing the integration of complex rail and transit systems across major Canadian infrastructure programmes. The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with commercial leadership, client engagement and experience managing multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide executive leadership for the rail systems integration function.
  • Lead the integration of signalling, communications, traction power, rolling stock, track, stations, operations and other railway systems.
  • Establish and oversee systems engineering, interface management, requirements management, assurance and verification processes.
  • Ensure successful coordination between civil infrastructure, railway systems, operations and maintenance workstreams.
  • Provide technical and strategic oversight across major rail and transit projects.
  • Build and lead high-performing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients, transit authorities, delivery partners and key stakeholders.
  • Support business development, major bids and the continued growth of the organisation’s Canadian rail systems capability.
  • Maintain oversight of project performance, commercial objectives, programme risks and technical quality.
  • Represent the business at executive-level client meetings and industry events.
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will offer:

  • Extensive senior leadership experience within the rail, metro or mass-transit sector.
  • A strong background in rail systems engineering and systems integration.
  • Experience delivering large, multidisciplinary rail or transit programmes.
  • Detailed understanding of technical interfaces between railway systems, civil infrastructure and operations.
  • Experience leading sizeable engineering teams, business units or technical practices.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including bids, budgets, project performance and client development.
  • The credibility to engage with senior representatives from government bodies, transit authorities, contractors and consulting organisations.
  • Previous experience within the Canadian transportation market would be highly advantageous.
  • A relevant engineering degree; professional engineering registration would be an advantage.
