Job summary

SYSTRA Canada seeks an experienced Systems Engineering Manager/Lead to drive day-to-day activities for a major Light Rail Transit project. You will capture and trace requirements, manage interfaces across disciplines, and ensure rigorous V&V evidence supports certification.

Candidates should have 10–15+ years in rail or complex infrastructure, with a P.Eng. in Ontario and strong experience with standards like EN 5012x and IEEE 15288, plus DOORS tools.

Qualifications

  • 10–15+ years of systems engineering experience on rail or complex infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering processes including requirements management, interface, integration and configuration management.
  • Experience with verification and validation activities and with hazard management.
  • Familiarity with rail standards (e.g., CENELEC EN 5012x, IEEE 15288).

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day systems engineering activities for the SRS scope.
  • Capture, analyze, allocate, traceability, and change control of SRS requirements.
  • Maintain requirements compliance and traceability from design to verification and handover.
  • Coordinate interface management across disciplines, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Develop and control interface documents and interface registers.
  • Plan and coordinate verification and validation activities for system/subsystem requirements.
  • Ensure V&V evidence is collected and maintained for assurance and certification.
  • Support integration management across systems and subsystems.
  • Coordinate with design, testing, assurance and delivery teams to manage dependencies and risks.
  • Support configuration management processes including baseline control and change management.

Context

We are seeking an experiencedSystems Engineering Manager / Leadto support the delivery of a majorLight Rail Transit (LRT) project. This role is responsible for leading day-to-day systems engineering activities across the designated project scope, ensuring that requirements, interfaces, integration, verification, validation, and configuration processes are effectively planned, implemented, and controlled throughout the project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will work closely with design, assurance, RAMS, testing, construction, and stakeholder teams to ensure that the LRT system is delivered in accordance with project requirements, applicable standards, and certification expectations. This role requires strong leadership, technical coordination, and experience working on rail or similarly complex infrastructure programs.

Missions/Main Duties
  • Manage day-to-day systems engineering activities for the SRS scope.
  • Leadrequirements capture, analysis, allocation, traceability,andchange controlfor SRS systems.
  • Maintain requirements compliance and traceability from design through verification and handover.
  • Coordinateinterface managementacross disciplines, contractors, stakeholders, and external parties.
  • Develop, maintain, and controlinterface control documents (ICDs)and interface registers.
  • Identify, track, and resolve interface issues, risks, and action items.
  • Plan and coordinateverification and validation (V&V)activities for system and subsystem requirements.
  • Ensure V&V evidence is collected, reviewed, organized, and maintained to support assurance and certification.
  • Supportintegration managementactivities across systems and subsystems.
  • Coordinate with design, testing, assurance, and delivery teams to manage integration dependencies and risks.
  • Supportconfiguration managementprocesses, including baseline control, document control, and change management.
  • Contribute toRAMS and hazard managementactivities, including maintaining relevant registers, records, and supporting documentation.
  • Provide systems engineering input to hazard identification, mitigation tracking, and closure activities.
  • Guide design teams on the use of systems engineering methods, tools, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable project standards, procedures, and engineering governance requirements.
  • Support technical reviews, audits, assurance reviews, and certification submissions as required.
  • Prepare and maintain systems engineering plans, reports, registers, and technical documentation.
Profile/Skills
  • University degree inEngineeringin Electrical, Systems, Mechanical, Civil, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Ontarioor equivalent.
  • 10–15+ yearsof systems engineering experience onrailorcomplex infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering processes, including:Requirements management
