Job Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical, hands-on Vice President of Finance to lead financial operations at a high-volume (in Billions) transaction global travel company with head office in Markham, Ontario. This executive role demands someone who thrives in a data-driven, fast-paced environment and can design and implement scalable financial processes that align with our strategic goals.

You will play a critical role in controlling accounts receivable, improving working capital, enhancing profitability, and supporting decision-making with actionable insights derived from rigorous financial analysis.

We’re seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented team player who thrives in a dynamic environment and can also work effectively independently. You should be organized, solution-focused, and proactive with a hands-on approach to getting things done.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Drive performance through KPI-driven dashboards and margin optimization strategies.
  • Partner with an Executive Director (Acting currently as CFO), the CEO and leadership team to
  • shape financial strategy and growth initiatives.
  • Own and optimize the AR process to reduce DSO, enforce credit controls, and improve cash
  • flow.
  • Build systems to flag aging receivables, engage clients proactively, and reduce bad debt risk.
  • Create tight feedback loops between Sales, Operations, and Finance to align receivables with
  • contractual terms.
  • Define and enforce strong financial controls and transactional workflows across departments.
  • Automate reconciliations, invoicing, and reporting using ERP, CRM, or BI tools.
  • Design SOPs for accounting cycles, cash handling, vendor payments, and interdepartmental
  • handoffs.
  • Roll up sleeves when necessary to review reconciliations, resolve discrepancies, and close books.
  • Engage directly with banking, credit, and GDS/payment partners to resolve issues and negotiate
  • terms.
  • Be involved in daily numbers, not just monthly or quarterly reviews.
  • Build and mentor a results-oriented finance team with a focus on discipline, accuracy, and
  • accountability.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with Tech, Ops, and Sales teams to drive financial discipline
  • Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the Company
  • Ensure legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and
  • regulations
  • Leads the preparation of all financial statements including but not limited to income statements,
  • balance sheets, shareholder reports, and all required governmental reports
  • Provides strategic management of the accounting and finance functions and provides strategic
  • recommendations to the Executive Management Team
  • Generates financial well-being of the Company by providing financial projections and accounting
  • services
  • Provide leadership and management of the Finance and Accounting team
  • Direct accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Manage important relationships with external clients, including but not limited to banks and
  • Conduct risk management by analyzing the Corporation liabilities and investments
  • Organize and prepare accurate, timely and valuable accounting information including, current
  • and forecasting reports, variance analysis reports and other information and present information/reports to Executive Management Team
  • Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, preferably in travel, fintech, or high- volume B2B/B2C industries.
  • Strong command of accounting principles, cash flow management, AR/AP cycles, and ERP systems.
  • Deep expertise in transaction-level analytics, gross margin control, and financial automation tools.
  • Proven success in reducing DSO and maintaining tight AR discipline in a high-volume environment.
  • Hands-on mindset with the ability to zoom in and out—from strategic planning to resolving operational gaps.
  • CPA, CMA, MBA or equivalent is mandatory and preferred.
