Vice President, Finance – Masco Canada (St Thomas, ON)

Come build the future with us! We are looking for a dynamic Vice President, Finance who is passionate about managing a market leading product portfolio that consumers love. Reporting directly to the President, Masco Canada, you will join a rapidly growing and developing team.

In the role of Vice President, Finance, you will be providing leadership and coordination of Company accounting, financial reporting, compliance, internal control, and budget management functions. You will also be the key financial advisor for our dynamic Operations Team in cost accounting and financial planning processes, supporting the development and delivery of company short- and long-term objectives. We are looking for a team player with strong technical accounting knowledge, business acumen, innovative ideas, excellent communication skills, and a drive to win.

What you will bring:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field required accompanied with a recognized accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA).
  • Exceptional knowledge of accounting, internal audit, budgeting, and cost control principles including Canadian and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, federal and provincial financial and taxation regulations.
  • 10+ years of experience in a senior level finance or accounting position in a mid-sized manufacturing environment. Experience working with one of the Big 4 accounting firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG) is highly desirable.
  • Strong operational and cost accounting experience.
  • Team player who is able to influence others within the business and functional teams.
  • Ability to work under tight timelines within a very dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint skills and experience working with ERP systems.
  • Passion for technology, desire to make meaningful contributions on a team with big inspirations.
  • Proven superior coaching and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with comfort working across functions and with different levels of management.

What you will do:

  • Provide leadership and coordination of Company accounting processes, financial reporting, compliance, internal control, and budget management functions.
  • Plan, organize and direct the day-to-day activities of General Accounting, AP, AR and Costing.
  • Drive operating discipline in tracking and analyzing monthly actual P/L, B/S and cash results vs forecast, risks and opportunities, gap closing processes.
  • Report timely & accurately all financial and accounting information including financial reports required by Company management, Masco Corporation and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure Company accounting procedures conform with both Canadian and U.S. generally accepted accounting principles and consistent with Company Accounting Policies.
  • Ensure that all established policies, rules, regulations and agreements are followed. Ensures that all department processes and procedures are appropriately documented and complied with.
  • Support VP Operations and Operations Team in developing financial and cost accounting processes and reporting, as well as financial analysis needed for decision making.
  • Review business contracts and agreements with vendors.
  • Assist in financial presentations for senior management and multifunctional meetings.
  • Develop and coach the team, build company financial capabilities.
  • Maintain an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls.
  • Keeps abreast of current accounting trends, practices and regulations.
  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget, forecast and prior year.
  • Administer & monitor various transfer pricing relationships/reporting.
  • Manage and direct the performance, recruitment, retention and development of staff to effectively accomplish the department's goals and objectives.
  • Recommends and monitors benchmarks for measuring financial and operating performance.
  • Coordinate the various tax compliance reporting including statutory financial statements and act as Company representative for any financial and taxation audits, both internal and external.
  • Other assigned responsibilities.
