Position Summary

Vice President, Business Development (Wholesaler)

JC Clark is a Toronto-based independent investment management firm that utilizes a value investing approach to manage capital on behalf of high-net-worth individuals as well as institutional investors and foundations. The firm recently launched its first Liquid Alternative Prospectus based fund and is expanding its distribution into the retail channel.

The Firm’s unique investing approach delivers both protection and growth of capital through various market conditions. The Firm is committed to meeting the needs of our clients by preserving capital, by attaining outstanding risk-adjusted absolute returns, and by maintaining a low correlation to the broad equity market indices whenever possible.

The principals of the firm have successfully executed alternative investment strategies for more than 25 years. We believe that all clients should be focused on maximizing long-term absolute returns, rather than short-term relative returns. Role & Responsibilities
  • Build, manage, and grow a pipeline of new investors for the firm
  • Lead the overall retail sales and marketing strategy at JC Clark
  • Build an in-depth knowledge of our products, increase sales and retain existing assets in the retail channel
  • Identify and establish new advisor relationships
  • Maintain a quarterly sales plan and deliver on targets to achieve asset raising goals
  • Update the executive team regularly on activity, pipeline, and feedback pertaining to asset raising efforts
  • Grow our brand and reputation in the Canadian market
  • Oversee the preparation and distribution of marketing materials and client communication
Desired Skills and Experience
  • At least 5 years of relevant business development / sales experience
  • A strong existing contact network of investment advisors across Canada
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Exceptional relationship-building and networking skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Strong financial acumen, including knowledge of financial markets and the asset management industry
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently
  • CFA / CIM / MBA / CFP and other industry licenses and designations considered an asset
