The University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM), is pleased to announce two full-time academic positions in Veterinary Pharmacology (Teaching and Research stream). Depending on qualifications and career expectations, appointments will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track) or Associate Professor (with tenure).
The successful candidate will be appointed in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2025, or a mutually agreed date.
Qualifications include a DVM or PhD in pharmacology/toxicology or a related field; at least one position must be filled by a DVM eligible for ABVMA licensure. Candidates should have an extensive research record, with interests in comparative or veterinary pharmacology/toxicology or use of animal and computer models. Expertise in veterinary clinical pharmacology/toxicology, molecular mechanisms of drug metabolism, physiologically-based pharmacokinetic modeling, or toxicology is required.
Applicants should demonstrate evidence or promise of teaching effectiveness, and an interest in contributing to DVM, undergraduate, and postgraduate teaching.
Appointments are made at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, with requirements as follows:
Clinical opportunities are available at the Distributed Veterinary Teaching Hospital, with support for establishing clinical relationships.
UCVM offers an AVMA-accredited DVM program, with plans to expand from 50 to 100 students, and is a research-intensive faculty.
