• Admit and discharge pet patients.
• Invoicing, estimate creation, and payment processing.
• Schedule appointments and assist veterinary staff.
• Restrain animals and support treatments as needed.
• Perform housekeeping duties to keep reception and exam areas clean.
• Shift-share at other VCA hospital locations may be required.

Veterinary Assistant, Receptionist – Cachet Village Animal Hospital, Markham, ON.

Location: Markham, ON

Employment Type: Part‑time

Role Type: Existing role

Compensation: $17.85 to $25.00 depending on experience

Responsibilities

• Create a warm and welcoming environment for patients and pet parents
• Answer a multiline phone system and track and book appointments effectively
• Place outbound calls to pet parents for follow‑up and future appointment bookings
• Respond and manage email correspondence; clients, referring veterinarians & internal office messages
• Admit and discharge pet patients
• Invoicing / billing; create estimates, obtain pet owner confirmation and process payments
• Schedule appointments
• Assist the veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments
• Restrain animals
• Perform housekeeping duties; keep reception area, pet holding areas, exam rooms and treatment areas clean
• Shift‑share at other VCA hospital locations may be required

Qualifications

• Previous client services experience and/or veterinary industry exposure is ideal
• Excellent customer service skills; a real aptitude for putting people at ease and creating a welcoming environment
• Veterinary Assistant (VA) or Veterinary Office Assistant (VOA) program certificate is an asset
• A love for all small companion animals
