• Caring for patients: feeding, walking, comforting

Veterinary Assistant

Location: London, ON

Compensation: $17.85 to $23.00 per hour, depending on experience

Employment Type: Full-time

Position Type: Existing position

Schedule: The shifts will typically be 8 -12 hours in length and can be daytime, overnight, and weekend shifts, including holidays.

London Regional Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital is currently recruiting for a dependable and outgoing Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This full-time opportunity includes a range of responsibilities which directly contribute to the efficient and effective daily operation of the hospital. A passion for both pets and people is a must, as well as maintaining professionalism in emergencies and stressful situations. We are a progressive, fast-paced 24-hour emergency and referral hospital that strives to provide exceptional animal care. Our Veterinary Assistant team is a huge part of our highly skilled practice, and we are looking for like-minded individuals to join our team.

Responsibilities

• Caring for our patients; feeding, walking and offering a gentle voice of assurance
• Ensure animal housing or enclosure is clean, sanitary and comfortable
• Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for patients and pet parents
• Excellent customer service skills; a real aptitude for putting pets and pet parents at ease and creating a welcoming environment
• General housekeeping duties; laundry, stocking and maintaining pet holding areas and common areas when required
• Self-motivated, takes initiative to get the job done and willing to jump in where needed
• Willingness to learn more regarding pet nutrition, veterinary services, updated medical office procedures and assisting the veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments
