Job description

Summary:

The Vessel Accountant at Pacific Seafood will process fish tickets and complete the reconciliation of fishing vessel payables, which are vital for our operations as they determine how our fishermen are paid. This information is used to report fishing activity to the appropriate state agencies. This role is ideal for individuals with strong attention to detail and solid knowledge of accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Transaction processing and vessel communication.
  • Coordinate with Division Leader, Fleet Manager, General Manager, and Controller.
  • Liaison between the company and vessels on boat loan requests, payments, inquiries.
  • Completion of vessel settlements including pricing, prepaids, etc.
  • Assist with financial period close processes.
  • Ensure net payments to boats are reconciled with ice, bait, and fuel purchases across all operations.
  • Reconciliation of bank accounts and balance sheets.
  • Government reporting (T4, WCB, GST, etc.).
  • Assist with financial reporting and forecasting/fishing plans.
What you Bring to Pacific Seafood:
Required:
  • A two-year accounting diploma.
  • 2-4 years of experience in accounting or a related role.
  • Proficient experience using accounting software, Word, and Excel.
Preferred:
  • A 4-year degree in accounting, finance, or related field from an accredited institution.
Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member:

  • Must be available to work Monday–Friday during regular hours, with occasional weekend duties.
  • Ability to maintain a stationary position 80% of the time, with intermittent walking, standing, bending, reaching, and crawling.
  • Ability to move and transport documents, equipment, or items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional travel as required by duties.
  • Capable of operating a computer and office machinery.
  • Effective communication skills with team members and stakeholders.
  • Ability to perceive visuals for data analysis, viewing screens, and reading.

Salary Range:

$60,000 - $70,000 Canadian exchange.

Total Compensation:
