What can you expect?

The Vehicle Mechanic II plays a visible role in providing an outstanding experience for guests through the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the powered equipment fleet, including snowcats, snowmobiles, light passenger and commercial vehicles, off-road vehicles, heavy equipment, generators, and buses. Mechanic II’s focus on safety, efficiency, and approachability while assisting senior Mechanics with inspections and repairs. They report to the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor or designate and work under the guidance of senior maintenance personnel, frequently liaising with various operations departments.

Assisting in all maintenance duties such as testing, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling, repairing, and servicing equipment, while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. This includes operating equipment, conducting inspections, disassembly, assembly, and cleaning of equipment and work sites.

Administrative and Reporting Responsibilities:

  • Completing documentation such as daily checks, logs, reports, maintenance records, inventory counts, and worksite inspections.
  • Communicating unusual operating conditions, including mechanical, operational, or environmental issues.
  • Adhering to company policies, relevant legislation, and manufacturer guidelines, including OHS, codes, and the Employee Handbook.
  • Reporting incidents and deficiencies promptly and accurately to the appropriate departments or personnel.

Other duties may be assigned as needed.

And you are/have:

  • Mechanical inclination and aptitude.
  • Valid and clear Alberta vehicle operator’s license.
  • Own basic tools suitable for the position.
  • A positive, mature, and friendly attitude.
  • Calmness under pressure and patience.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work confidentially.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, nights, and extended hours.
  • Preparedness to work outdoors in all weather conditions with appropriate gear.
  • Maintain professional conduct in uniform, on or off duty, and online.
  • Ability to support and assist coworkers effectively.
  • Active participation in meetings and training sessions.
  • Neatness, punctuality, and dependability.
  • Reliable transportation as required for team movement.

Additional considerations:

  • Employees must be of sound mind, exercise good judgment, and be fit for duty.
  • This role involves standing for long periods, trunk rotation, frequent lifting, pushing/pulling (up to 45 kg), climbing stairs and ladders, hiking, and moving around in alpine environments.
  • Operating machinery, vehicles, and working around moving equipment.
  • Using hand and powered tools such as wrenches, testing equipment, and hoists.
  • Candidates may need to provide their own transportation to the resort.
  • Provision and maintenance of CSA-approved safety footwear are required.
  • Uniform pieces (liner, jacket, pants, toque/hat, collared shirt, polo) are provided.
  • Potential exposure to chemicals like solvents, oils, grease, and fuels.

This role is governed by the Sunshine Village Employee Handbook, Policy Manual, and Alberta Employment Standards Code.
