The role requires OMVIC certification, a clean Ontario driver’s abstract, and 2–3 years in automotive appraisal or wholesale buying. This is an in-person role in the GTA with strong growth potential.

Qualifications

• Must have OMVIC Certification in good standing.
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License with a clean abstract (will be verified).
• Minimum 2–3 years in high-volume automotive vehicle appraisal/wholesale buying.
• Strong proficiency with Canadian digital auction platforms (TradeRev, Openlane) and valuation tools (vAuto, Canadian Black Book).
• Understanding of Toronto market demand for high-velocity segments.

Responsibilities

• Appraise vehicles accurately via physical and digital evaluations, considering condition and history reports to set market values.
• Source high-volume pre-owned inventory through digital networks, online auctions, dealer trades, and private channels.
• Utilize live pricing software (vAuto, Provision) to assess velocity, days-to-turn, and supply in the GTA.
• Ensure profitability by factoring reconditioning costs into appraisal metrics.
• Maintain a fast, continuous inventory flow across acquisition streams.
• Coordinate logistics with transport and service teams for smooth reconditioning.

Position Overview

Downtown Automotive Group (DAG) is seeking a sharp, aggressive, and data-driven High-Volume Vehicle Acquisition Specialist & Appraiser to spearhead our inventory procurement operations. In this specialized role, you will report directly to the General Manager and be responsible for both the accurate valuation and active acquisition of pre-owned vehicle inventory across digital networks, wholesale platforms, and direct sources. This is a pure procurement, appraisal, and buying role with zero retail sales or showroom management responsibilities. We are looking for an analytical \"hunter\" capable of accurately evaluating and consistently purchasing high volumes of quality vehicles within strict profitability parameters tailored for the urban Toronto market.

Key Responsibilities

• Vehicle Appraisal: Perform highly accurate physical and digital evaluations of vehicles. Analyze cosmetic condition, mechanical soundness, and vehicle history reports (CarFax Canada) to establish precise market values.


• High-Volume Sourcing: Actively scout and buy targeted pre‑owned inventory utilizing digital wholesale networks, online auctions (Openlane/Adesa, Otolane, Eblock etc.), dealer trades, and digital private‑party channels.


• Data‑Driven Appraisal: Utilize live market pricing software (vAuto / Provision) to accurately assess local market velocity, days‑to‑turn, and supply metrics specifically within the Greater Toronto Area.


• Profitability Targeting: Fact‑check appraisal metrics against estimated mechanical, structural, and cosmetic reconditioning costs to maximize front‑end gross profit margins.


• Pipeline Management: Maintain an exceptional pace and volume to secure continuous inventory flow across designated acquisition streams.


• Logistics Liaison: Coordinate with transport and service teams to ensure acquired vehicles arrive at their destination efficiently and are processed smoothly into reconditioning.

Qualifications & Experience

• Licensing & Compliance: Must possess a valid, active OMVIC Certification in good standing.


• Driving Record: Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s License with a clean driving abstract (abstract will be verified).


• Automotive Background: Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in high-volume automotive vehicle appraisal, wholesale buying, or as a senior used vehicle acquisition specialist.


• Platform Expertise: Deep, current proficiency with digital Canadian auction platforms (TradeRev, Openlane, etc.) and market valuation tools (vAuto, Canadian Black Book).


• The \"Urban Eye\": Strong understanding of changing consumer demand trends in the Toronto market (e.g., high‑velocity compacts, crossovers, hybrids, and urban luxury segments).

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range: $75,000 - $105,000 CAD / year (Structured as a competitive base salary plus high-volume milestone performance bonuses).
