Job summary

Amrize is seeking a Quality Control Technician to perform sampling, laboratory testing, and data recording to ensure products meet specifications and customer expectations. You will support operations and quality teams with independent routine activities and help identify quality concerns for timely resolution.

Ideal candidates have a college diploma in Civil/Environmental Technology or related field, at least 1 year in aggregate QC or lab testing, and bilingual French/English communication.

Qualifications

  • College diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1 year of relevant aggregate quality control or laboratory testing experience.
  • Bilingualism in French and English, both written and spoken.
  • Valid G-class driver’s license, CCIL certification in Aggregates or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sampling and quality control testing to support product specifications and customer expectations.
  • Provide accurate and timely test results and quality information to teams.
  • Support field and laboratory QC activities with independence.
  • Identify abnormal or non-conforming results and raise concerns promptly.
  • Maintain accurate quality records and data entry in systems.
  • Support customer-related quality activities including sampling and investigations.
  • Assist with lab readiness, equipment checks, and calibration.
  • Promote consistent testing practices and continuous improvement.
  • Support training of junior staff in routine activities.
  • Adhere to health, safety and environmental policies.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Quality Control Technician supports aggregate quality control activities through sampling, laboratory testing, documentation, and communication of results. The role helps ensure products meet applicable specifications, internal quality requirements, and customer expectations. Working with a good degree of independence in routine activities, this position provides day-to-day support to operations and quality teams, contributes to timely identification of quality concerns, and supports continuous improvement of laboratory and field practices.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Perform sampling and quality control testing to support compliance with product specifications, internal quality requirements, and customer expectations.

  • Provide accurate and timely test results, observations, and quality information to quality control and operational teams.

  • Support routine field and laboratory quality control activities across assigned sites with a good degree of independence.

  • Help identify abnormal, inconsistent, or non-conforming results and elevate concerns in a timely manner.

  • Maintain accurate quality records, traceability, and data entry within applicable systems and documentation practices.

  • Support customer-related quality activities, including sampling, follow-up, and routine investigation support as assigned.

  • Assist with laboratory readiness through equipment checks, organization, housekeeping, and support for routine maintenance and calibration activities.

  • Contribute to consistent testing practices, effective communication, and continuous improvement within the quality control function.

  • Support the training and day-to-day guidance of junior team members in routine laboratory and sampling activities, where applicable.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • Education: College diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Field of Study Preferred: Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, Materials Engineering Technology, Geological Technology, or related field.

  • Required Work Experience: 1 year of relevant experience in aggregate quality control, construction materials testing, laboratory testing, or a related industrial environment.

  • Required Training/Certifications: Valid G-class driver’s license. CCIL certification in Aggregates, or ability to obtain within the required timeframe.

  • Language Requirements: Ability to communicate effectively in both French and English, verbally and in writing.

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office

  • Data entry and record management in laboratory or quality systems

  • Familiarity with aggregate laboratory testing equipment and procedures

  • Experience with quality databases or laboratory systems is an asset

  • Travel Requirements: Regular travel between assigned sites within the market area.

Additional Requirements
  • Working knowledge of aggregate sampling and laboratory testing practices

  • Basic understanding of applicable specifications and standards, including OPSS, CSA, BNQ

  • Ability to interpret routine test results and identify potential quality concerns

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Good organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to work independently in routine activities

  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced operational environment

  • Ability to work in laboratory, plant, quarry, and outdoor environments

  • Ability to support customer and operational needs in a professional manner

  • Bilingualism in French and English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of English is required, as the incumbent must communicate regularly with clients and suppliers of goods and/or services along with team members or support functions outside Quebec.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
