Amrize is seeking a Plant Manager - Asphalt to lead the site’s operations, safety, maintenance, quality, and cost control. The role emphasizes an excellence-driven approach to maximize productivity while controlling production costs.

The candidate will oversee SOP development, maintenance programs, and regulatory compliance, while managing personnel and ensuring a safe, efficient work environment. Bilingual English/French required for cross-border coordination.

Qualifications

  • College diploma in engineering, construction management, business administration, or related field.
  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in industrial operations management within construction materials (asphalt, concrete, or aggregates).
  • LOTOTO, confined space, and work-at-heights safety training preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Up to 25% travel based on operational needs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Asphalt Plant Manager is directly responsible for the overall management of the site. They lead plant operations, health and safety, maintenance, quality control, personnel management, environmental compliance, purchasing, and cost control. By applying an approach focused on operational excellence and process adherence, the incumbent works to maximize productivity while maintaining competitive production costs.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Demonstrate an exemplary leadership in health and safety to establish a culture aiming for a "zero incident" target.
  • Implement and strictly enforce all company standards, directives, policies, and occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Lead local safety prevention initiatives, such as audits, near-miss/first-aid reporting, and safety meetings.
  • Oversee asphalt processing, mixing, storage, and dispatching operations to maximize productivity and maintain competitive production costs.
  • Develop, implement, and track standard operating procedures (SOPs) to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Deploy and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with technical customer specifications, ISO criteria, and applicable environmental standards.
  • Manage, train, evaluate, and develop personnel while administering collective bargaining agreements in a constructive labor relations climate.
  • Ensure adherence to or exceed regulatory environmental standards and operational permits while maintaining site cleanliness and image.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • Education: College diploma in engineering, construction management, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Required Work Experience: Minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in industrial operations management within the construction materials sector (asphalt, concrete, or aggregates).
  • Required Training/Certifications: LOTOTO, confined space, and work at heights safety compliance training preferred.
  • Required Technical Skills: Proficiency with IT tools (MS Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and management systems.
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel based on operational needs.
Additional Requirements
  • Bilingualism in French and English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of English is required, as the incumbent must communicate regularly with clients and suppliers of goods and/or services along with team members or support functions outside Quebec.
  • Unifying leadership skills with strong communication and change management capabilities.
  • Analytical rigor, strategic problem-solving skills, and decision-making capabilities under pressure.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
