Job summary

Amrize is seeking a Quarry Supervisor in Canada to coordinate and supervise continuous quarry activities, ensuring safety and environmental standards. You will lead daily meetings, monitor equipment, and coordinate maintenance actions to meet production targets.

Strong bilingual communication is required to liaise with clients and suppliers across Quebec and beyond. The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, shift coverage during off-hours, and adherence to company safety programs while supporting

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain shift logs and prepare repair work orders.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Quarry Supervisor’s prime objective is to coordinate and supervise continuous quarry activities meeting operational objectives for quantity and quality, within safety and environmental standards. Additionally, this role assumes overall plant responsibility during off-hours.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Coordinate and supervise continuous quarry activities to meet daily production and quality targets.
  • Lead daily tailgate meetings and monthly safety meetings, ensuring action items and incident investigations are addressed.
  • Execute instructions set by the Site Manager, ensuring proper operational guidelines and parameters are followed.
  • Monitor quarry operations to detect equipment malfunctions or abnormal situations and trigger appropriate corrective actions.
  • Evaluate causes of mechanical or electrical breakdowns, determine urgency, and coordinate call-ins for repair crews.
  • Oversee shift quality control activities and support decision-making and process trials.
  • Maintain shift surveillance over the plant during off-hours, assisting with security, property control, merchandise receipts, and visitor access.
  • Direct, motivate, and assign tasks to hourly crew members, managing overtime, performance, and workplace communication.
  • Maintain accurate shift logs, record qualitative/quantitative data, and prepare repair work orders.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: Technical College Degree (Civil, Mechanical, or related field) OR High School Diploma.

Field of Study Preferred: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.

Required Work Experience:

2 to 3 years of work experience in production or maintenance in a related field with a Technical College Degree (preferably within a Unionized environment). OR

5 years of work experience in production or maintenance in a related field with a High School Diploma (preferably within a Unionized environment).

Required Technical Skills: Knowledge of aggregates processes, product quality control, equipment shutdown management, and maintenance tracking/management systems.

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong people management skills with the ability to develop effective internal and external relations.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, analytical, and organizational/planning skills.
  • Disciplined, process-oriented team player with a positive attitude.
  • Adaptable to shift work and sense of urgency regarding equipment shutdowns.
  • Demonstrated Lominger competencies: Action Oriented, Dealing with Ambiguity, Conflict Management, Credibility, Customer Focus, Timely Decision Making, Problem Solving.
  • Bilingualism in French and English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of English is required, as the incumbent must communicate regularly with clients and suppliers of goods and/or services along with team members or support functions outside Quebec.

Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
