Job summary

Alstom supports a full-time OnCorr V&C Training Coordinator in Whitby, Ontario, to manage competence, certifications, and technical proficiency for the Validation & Commissioning team on the OnCorr Signalling project.

You will monitor workforce competence levels, maintain robust records, and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and industry standards while collaborating with the V&C Manager and other leaders across the business.

Qualifications

• Relevant professional experience in signalling and telecoms, rail systems, or a comparable technical discipline.
• Experience in a project-based, operational delivery, construction, commissioning, or infrastructure environment.
• Comprehensive understanding of competence assessment, certification, licensing, and mentoring requirements within a safety-critical or regulated environment.
• Working knowledge of safety-critical work requirements, risk assessment methodologies, and EHS expectations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with database or competence management systems.
• Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear reports and stakeholder updates.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and sustain the V&C competence management process to ensure adherence to standards and requirements.
• Identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks arising from competence gaps.
• Partner with managers to appoint and train qualified competence assessors.
• Maintain an audit framework for competence assessments, mentoring, and licensing processes.
• Monitor workforce competence levels and support strategic resource planning for project needs.
• Ensure timely renewal, remediation, or corrective actions for expired certifications.
• Implement and maintain mentoring processes aligned with governance expectations.
• Act as the principal contact for internal and external audits related to competence management.
• Provide regular updates to leadership on competence status, risks, and performance indicators.
• Drive continuous improvement by reviewing and enhancing competence-related processes.
