Job summary

BioPower, a sustainable energy company in Atikokan, Ontario, is seeking a Plant Operator – Utility to support cleanup, maintenance and production systems. You will operate heavy equipment, perform cleaning tasks and assist in loading pellets, while maintaining safety and following regulations.

Ideal candidates will be able to adapt to changing schedules, work well in a team, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives at the mill. Experience in industrial operations is an asset.

• Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem solving skills.
• Able to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Adaptable to changes in work schedules or tasks.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written skills.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for performing a variety of construction, repair, installation and maintenance activities that support BioPower’s production systems
• Operates a variety of heavy equipment and tools related to maintenance and clean up
• Ensure the highest level of safety standard, ensuring compliance with all applicable government regulations and company policies
• Performs cleaning tasks per daily, weekly or monthly schedules or as assigned by the Mill Management
• Assists in loading pellets and completing the necessary administrative tasks for shipping of pellets
• Participates in continuous improvement and quality control initiatives
• Operates mobile equipment as assigned
• Reports safety incidents and or infractions
• Assists maintenance staff or completes basic maintenance tasks when mill is down alone or under the direction of maintenance staff
