Job summary

The Shaw Group is seeking a Utility Operator at its Belledune, New Brunswick location. The role provides operational support across multiple plant systems, stepping in to fill vacancies and assist with day-to-day plant activities.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a plant or industrial setting, ideally as an operator or technician.
  • Ability and desire to operate a wide range of equipment, such as front end loaders and other mobile equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Flexibility to work on various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Basic computer literacy and familiarity with computerized control systems.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative when stepping into various roles.
  • Commitment to following safety regulations and protocols.
  • Open to opportunities to train toward future roles within the facility
  • Physical labour will be required

Responsibilities

  • Follow and work alongside crews to safely, efficiently & effectively run the plant and ensure production, quality and housekeeping goals are met
  • Actively participate in Tool Box meetings
  • Step in to cover for absent or unavailable operators across different shifts as needed.
  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting on plant systems and machinery.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and adhere to safety and environmental protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of system operations, maintenance activities, and any incidents.
  • Assist in the shutdown and startup of plant equipment during maintenance or operational changes.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance teams to resolve technical issues and improve plant efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in all areas of operation
