Overview:
We are seeking a Junior to Intermediate User Experience (UX) Designer for a 6-month contract position supporting a B2B web application focused on improving the digital experience for Canadian businesses operating internationally. This role requires Enhanced Reliability Clearance due to the nature of the work.
You will work within a cross-functional team alongside a Senior UX Designer and Content Designer to reimagine user interactions across our insurance product suite. Your blend of creativity, empathy, and analytical thinking will drive user-centered design that supports business goals and delivers impactful digital experiences.
Primary Responsibilities:
UX Strategy & Planning: Assist the Senior UX Designer in refining and executing UX/UI strategies aligned with business objectives and user needs.
User Research: Participate in user research, competitive analysis, and usability testing. Apply findings to inform design decisions and identify improvement opportunities.
Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with subject matter experts, business analysts, developers, and product owners to define the project scope and user requirements.
UX/UI Design: Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that prioritize clarity, usability, and engagement.
Prototyping & Testing: Build interactive prototypes and conduct usability testing to iterate and improve designs based on feedback.
Design System: Utilize design kits and component libraries to ensure visual and functional consistency across platforms.
Accessibility & Inclusion: Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2) and inclusive design principles under the Accessible Canada Act.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Clearly communicate design decisions, trade-offs, and rationale with stakeholders and team members.
Design Excellence: Support the continuous improvement of the design practice, upholding high standards of quality and cohesion.
Agile Delivery: Participate in Agile ceremonies and project planning using tools like Azure DevOps (ADO), and contribute to iterative delivery within a Scrum or Kanban framework.
Key Skills & Experience:
Top Required Skills:
Strong proficiency in Figma for UX/UI design.
Proven collaboration with designers, analysts, developers, and product owners.
Experience designing for B2B digital financial products (insurance experience is a plus).
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field.
4+ years of experience in UX/UI design, ideally in a B2B or enterprise environment.
Expertise in mobile-first and responsive design.
Experience in user research and usability testing.
Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Axure, Adobe XD.
Deep understanding of user-centered design, interaction design, and information architecture.
Knowledge of web development basics is an asset (HTML/CSS).
Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management skills.
Preferred Assets:
Knowledge of UX metrics and analytics.
Accessibility certification (e.g., CPACC, WAS).
Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
