Job summary

City of Windsor is seeking a Planner II – Research & Design Support in Windsor, Ontario. The role supports the Site Plan Review process, provides design input, liaises with departments, and prepares reports on Official Plan implementation.

The ideal candidate has a university planning degree, at least four years of related experience, knowledge of the Ontario Planning Act, CAD/GIS, and strong communication skills; travel and a valid driver's license may be required.

Qualifications

• University degree in Planning or related field; 4+ years experience.
• Knowledge of the Ontario Planning Act and related policies.
• Willingness to travel; valid driver's license may be required.
• Excellent organizational, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; CAD/GIS/graphic software beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist Site Plan Control Officer in reviewing site plan applications.
• Support developers to meet Site Plan approval conditions.
• Provide design input on proposals' functional and aesthetic aspects.
• Coordinate with other departments, agencies and government personnel.
• Prepare reports to Council/Committees on Official Plan implementation.
• Conduct research for design concepts and urban design guidelines.
