An established healthcare provider is seeking a dedicated Unit Clerk to join their dynamic team. The Unit Clerk functions as a receptionist and clerk for the patient care unit. This position is a coordinator and a central source of information and record keeping relating to the activities, communication and service for the patients on the nursing unit. The Unit Clerk acts as a liaison between members of the inter-disciplinary team as well as other hospital and non-hospital staff. Duties of a Unit Clerk are not limited to but do include transcribing physicians’ orders in accordance with Hospitals’ policies and procedures, assembling and maintaining patient charts, as well as key reception duties.
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Minimum 1 year experience in acute clinical setting as unit clerk or completion of certified/recognized unit clerk course within previous year.
Proficient in computer skills, Connect Care trained, IRequest, etc.
