Job summary

Alberta Health Services in Hinton is hiring a Unit Clerk to support acute care and emergency teams. You will manage communications, patient records, physician orders and scheduling, while upholding confidentiality and providing courteous reception to patients and staff.

The role is a 1.0 FTE temporary full-time position at the Hinton Healthcare Centre, with shift rotation and benefits. Candidates should have a Grade 12 and a Unit Clerk program completion, plus flexibility for days/nights as

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication among health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality.
• Perform reception duties, greet and direct visitors and staff, and maintain patient records and charts.
• Transcribe and process physician orders and schedule patient tests or treatments.
• Support unit administrative activities to ensure smooth patient flow.

Job description

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
