Job summary

Halton Healthcare is seeking a Temporary Part-time Medical Office Administrative Clerk to perform reception and clerical duties in the OT DI Admin department. Responsibilities include registering patients, answering calls, scheduling, and data entry, with patient handling as needed.

The role requires a Medical Office Administration diploma or 1 year of healthcare clerical experience, fast typing, and proficiency in MS Office. Fluency in English and strong organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Register patients and answer telephone with courteous service.
  • Complete requisitions and transcribe doctors' orders.
  • Schedule appointments and manage inventory of supplies.
  • Prepare stretchers and assist with filing and data entry.
  • Porter patients in wheelchairs and stretchers as required; support staff scheduling.

Job Description

Duties will include a variety of reception and clerical functions including registering patients; answering telephone; completing requisitions; transcribing doctors' orders; scheduling appointments; ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies; preparing stretchers; filing; data entry on computer system; staff scheduling. Portering patients in wheelchairs and on stretchers as required. Other duties as required.

Qualifications
  • Medical Office Administration diploma from a recognized college or a minimum of 1 year recent relevant clerical experience in a healthcare setting required
  • Medical terminology certificate required
  • A minimum of 30 wpm typing speed required
  • Must have fast and accurate computer data entry skills
  • Must have familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Experience using patient related databases
  • Must be able to prioritize workload and function independently in a busy environment
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to diplomatically respond to inquiries from staff, volunteers, patients, family members and members of the general public
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English fluently
  • Must be physically able to perform the job: prolonged periods of time sitting; standing; walking; and pushing and pulling variety of wheeled equipment
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required
  • Previous Emergency experience required

Status: Temporary Part-time (Approx. 12 months)

Hours:Monday to Sunday- - Various rotating 7.5 hour shifts. (Hours are subject to change based on operational requirements)

Salary:$30.040 to $30.650 per hour
