Job summary

Randstad Canada is seeking a Logistics & Customs Specialist in Saint-Hyacinthe to coordinate end-to-end import/export logistics and ensure compliance with global trade regulations. The ideal candidate has 3–7 years in international logistics, strong negotiation skills, and a detail-oriented approach to documentation and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3–7 years in international logistics, freight forwarding, or customs.
  • Strong HS classification, tariff schedules, and trade-docc proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and audit import/export docs (Invoices, Packing Lists, BOL, Origin Certificates, Customs Entries).
  • Determine HS/HTS classifications for inventory items.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers for timely clearance and reduce delays at borders.
  • Monitor changes in trade laws, tariffs, duties, and trade agreements.
  • Manage inbound/outbound shipments across ocean, air, rail, and TL/LTL freight.
  • Coordinate dock appointments, container drops, and warehouse receiving schedules.
  • Track shipments, identify delays, and update cross-functional teams (Sales, Inventory, Warehouse).
  • Negotiate rates and terms with freight forwarders, carriers, 3PLs, and brokers.
  • Review freight and customs invoices for accuracy and cost allocation.
  • Regularly review carrier performance via Vendor Scorecards.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Logistics & Customs Specialist tol coordinate end-to-end import/export logistics, manage international freight movements, ensure strict compliance with global trade and customs regulations, and optimize carrier performance.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, review, and audit import/export documentation, including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading (BOL), Certificates of Origin, and Customs Entries.
  • Determine and verify Harmonized System (HS/HTS) code classifications for all incoming and outgoing inventory items.
  • Partner with third-party customs brokers to ensure timely customs clearance and minimize delays at border crossings.
  • Monitor changes in international trade laws, tariffs, duties, trade agreements (e.g., USMCA, CETA), and regional regulatory standards.
  • Manage daily inbound and outbound shipments across ocean, air, rail, and over-the-road (TL/LTL) freight channels.
  • Coordinate dock appointments, container drop-offs, and warehouse receiving schedules with carrier dispatchers.
  • Track shipments proactively, identify potential transit delays, and communicate updates to cross‑functional teams (Sales, Inventory, Warehouse Ops).
  • Negotiate rates and service terms with freight forwarders, carriers, 3PLs, and customs brokers.
  • Evaluate carrier performance metrics (on‑time delivery, damage rates, billing accuracy) through regular Vendor Scorecards.
  • Review and approve freight and customs invoices, ensuring alignment with contracted rates and accurate cost allocation.
Qualifications
  • degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 3–7 years of hands‑on experience in international logistics, freight forwarding, or customs compliance
  • Demonstrated proficiency in HS classification, customs valuation, tariff schedules, and trade agreement documentation.
  • Detail‑Oriented: Exceptional accuracy in reviewing legal and trade documentation.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to resolve unexpected border delays, route disruptions, or shipping errors under pressure.
  • Communication: Strong cross‑functional and external negotiation skills.
