Job summary

Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools in Alberta invites applications for an Educational Assistant (Part Time, mornings, 16.25 hours/week).

The role supports students with mild to severe needs in academic, social, and physical aspects within a Christ-centered learning community. You will work with a collaborative interdisciplinary team, implement individualized plans, and employ positive behavioral supports to foster independence and growth.

Qualifications

• Completion of the Education Assistant Program at MacEwan University or equivalent post-secondary training.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training an asset.
• Experience with implementing student Individual Program Plans.
• Experience with diverse learners, including autism.
• Ability to lift and toilet students as required.

• Experience implementing positive, proactive behavioural interventions including competence using specific strategies such as visual supports, sensory supports, reinforcement schedules, teaching problem-solving skills, social stories, etc. and has experience with Positive Behavioral Supports.
• Diapering, transfers (lifting), g-tube feeding may be required.
• Support the use of Google Apps for Education as well assistive technology devices for communication.
• Experience modeling and teaching students social skills, and emotional regulation.
• Ability to lift and toilet students as required.
• First Aid and CPR training would be an asset.
• Ability to be involved in a wide variety of activities that require some level of physical activity.
• Knowledge and experience working with diverse learners who are on the autism spectrum is preferred.
