Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools is seeking an Educational Assistant at Sister Alphonse Academy to support students with mild to severe needs. The role runs 32.5 hours per week, temporary full time, commencing as soon as possible and ending June 29, 2027.

Candidates should be committed to Christ-centered education and inclusive practices. Training in First Aid/CPR is an asset, with a focus on teamwork and adaptive supports.

Qualificações

• Completion of the Education Assistant Program at MacEwan University or equivalent post-secondary training.
• First Aid and CPR training would be an asset.
• Experience with implementing student Individual Program Plans.

Responsabilidades

• Assist students with mild to severe needs across domains (intellectual, emotional/behavioural, learning, hearing/vision, communication).
• Support use of Google Apps for Education and assistive tech.
• Model and teach social skills and emotional regulation.
• Work with a strong interdisciplinary team and adapt to diverse learners.
• Involve safe physical support (lifting/toileting) as needed.

Position: An Educational Assistant is required to assist students with mild to severe needs in any or a combination of the following areas: intellectual, emotional/behavioural, learning, hearing and/or vision, communication and language, and physical and/or medical.

Duties to Commence: As soon as possible until June 29, 2027

Qualifications & Duties:

• Committed to being a model and witness to Christ-centered education values and beliefs.
• Apply foundational knowledge about First Nations, Métis and Inuit for the benefit of all students, and support the Division's goals towards advancing Truth and Reconciliation.
• Completion of the Education Assistant Program at MacEwan University or equivalent post-secondary training.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training an asset.
• Experience with assisting with the implementation of student Individual Program Plans.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and ability to work well with a strong, interdisciplinary team.
• Display a positive approach to students with social-emotional-behavioral needs.
• Experience implementing positive, proactive behavioural interventions including competence using specific strategies such as visual supports, sensory supports, reinforcement schedules, teaching problem-solving skills, social stories, etc. and has experience with Positive Behavioral Supports.
• Support the use of Google Apps for Education as well assistive technology devices for communication.
• Experience modeling and teaching students social skills, and emotional regulation.
• Ability to lift and toilet students as required.
• First Aid and CPR training would be an asset.
• Ability to be involved in a wide variety of activities that require some level of physical activity.
• Knowledge and experience working with diverse learners who are on the autism spectrum is preferred.
