Nearing Catholic Elementary School. This temporary full-time position (32.5 hours per week) supports students with diverse learning needs in a Christ-centered learning community. The role involves assisting with academics, behaviour, communication, and daily living tasks, and requires completion of an Education Assistant program; experience with IEPs and assistive tech is preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of the Education Assistant Program at MacEwan University or equivalent post-secondary training.
• Experience with supporting students with diverse needs and implementing IEPs.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with mild to severe needs in areas including intellectual, emotional/behavioural, learning, communication and physical/medical needs.
• Support the implementation of Individual Program Plans for students.
• Work with an interdisciplinary team to support student outcomes.
• Utilize Google Apps for Education and assistive technology to aid communication.
• Assist with daily living tasks, including lifting/toileting as required.

Educational Assistant

Temporary Full Time (32.5 hours per week)

Position:

An Educational Assistant is required to assist students with mild to severe needs in any or a combination of the following areas: intellectual, emotional/behavioural, learning, hearing and/or vision, communication and language, and physical and/or medical.

Duties to Commence:

As soon as possible until January 28, 2027 with the possibility of extension.

Qualifications & Duties:

• Committed to being a model and witness to Christ-centered education values and beliefs.
• Apply foundational knowledge about First Nations, Métis and Inuit for the benefit of all students, and support the Division's goals towards advancing Truth and Reconciliation.
• Completion of the Education Assistant Program at MacEwan University or equivalent post-secondary training.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training an asset.
• Experience with assisting with the implementation of student Individual Program Plans.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and ability to work well with a strong, interdisciplinary team.
• Display a positive approach to students with social-emotional-behavioral needs.
• Experience implementing positive, proactive behavioural interventions including competence using specific strategies such as visual supports, sensory supports, reinforcement schedules, teaching problem-solving skills, social stories, etc. and has experience with Positive Behavioral Supports.
• Support the use of Google Apps for Education as well assistive technology devices for communication.
• Experience modeling and teaching students social skills, and emotional regulation.
• Ability to lift and toilet students as required.
• First Aid and CPR training would be an asset.
• Ability to be involved in a wide variety of activities that require some level of physical activity.
• Knowledge and experience working with diverse learners who are on the autism spectrum is preferred.
