Job summary

Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools seeks an Educational Assistant at École Notre Dame Elementary School to support students with mild to severe needs in a Christ-centered setting. The part-time role covers mornings (16.25 hours/week) and starts as soon as possible.

The candidate should have an Education Assistant program (MacEwan University or equivalent) and experience with student planning, collaboration, and positive behavioral supports. First Aid/CPR is an asset.

• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training an asset.

• Experience with Positive Behavioral Supports.
• Experience helping to facilitate positive peer interactions among students.
• First Aid and CPR training would be an asset.
• Physically able to assist students (i.e. running, lifting, toileting).
• Experience at the Elementary level would be beneficial.
• Knowledge and experience working with diverse learners who are on the autism spectrum would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with mild to severe needs in intellectual, emotional/behavioural, learning, hearing and/or vision, communication and language, and physical/medical areas.
• Support the execution of Individual Program Plans in collaboration with teachers and support staff.
• Provide a safe, inclusive, Christ-centered classroom environment.
• Contribute to positive behavior supports and proactive strategies to promote student engagement.

• Display a positive approach to students with social-emotional-behavioral needs.
• Experience assisting with the implementation of positive, proactive behavioural interventions including competence using specific strategies such as visual supports, sensory supports, reinforcement schedules, teaching problem-solving skills, social stories, etc. and experience with Positive Behavioral Supports.
• Experience helping to facilitate positive peer interactions among students.
• First Aid and CPR training would be an asset.
• Physically able to assist students (i.e. running, lifting, toileting etc.).
• Experience at the Elementary level would be beneficial.
• Knowledge and experience working with diverse learners who are on the autism spectrum would be an asset.
