Department: Individual Underwriting

Term: Permanent Full-Time

Work Arrangements: This role is primarily remote, with potential in-person requirements at our Waterloo, ON office or other locations within the Waterloo Region, and travel for sales roles as needed.

The Opportunity: As part of our growth, we are hiring Underwriters for our Individual Insurance team. The Intermediate Underwriter plays a vital role in risk assessment for life and critical illness insurance products. Key Responsibilities:

• Apply comprehensive underwriting expertise across medical, financial, and non-medical risk factors
• Maintain high-quality work standards
• Manage daily workload independently to meet service standards
• Ensure compliance with legislative requirements, consumer regulations, and reinsurance treaties related to privacy, disclosure, and risk classification
• Contribute to ongoing improvements in underwriting processes

Qualifications:

• Bilingual in French and English is an asset
• Strong technical knowledge in underwriting medical, financial, and non-medical risks
• Adaptability to a dynamic work environment
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong negotiation skills and reinsurance relationship management
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proactive, service-oriented relationship skills
