Position Details

• Title: Intermediate Underwriter
• Reports To: Manager, Underwriting
• Department: Individual Underwriting
• Term: Permanent Full-Time
• Work Arrangement: 100% remote from home, with possible in-person requirements in Waterloo, ON, or other locations within the Waterloo Region. Travel may be required for sales roles.

Responsibilities

1. Apply comprehensive underwriting expertise across medical, financial, and non-medical risk factors.
2. Maintain high-quality work standards.
3. Manage daily workload independently to meet service standards.
4. Deliver a first-class client experience.
5. Ensure compliance with legislative requirements, consumer regulations, and reinsurance treaties regarding privacy, disclosure, and risk classification.
6. Contribute to ongoing improvements in underwriting processes and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in French and English is an asset.
• Strong technical knowledge in medical, financial, and non-medical underwriting.
• Adaptability to a dynamic work environment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong reinsurance relationships and negotiation skills.
