Qualifications

• A two-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in a relevant field such as Business.
• 1–3 years of underwriting experience.
• Ability to evaluate risk, apply guidelines, and make timely decisions.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite moderately complex insurance risks for Commercial Auto, Commercial Property or Farm.
• Research and obtain information on risk and determine acceptability within authority.
• Develop and maintain broker relationships to generate profitable business.
• Provide guidance and reviews for junior staff and trainees.
• Explain underwriting criteria and decisions to brokers and colleagues.
• Contribute to process improvements and respond to market conditions.
