Job summary

STRIVE Recruitment is actively seeking experienced Underground Miners, Underground Haul Truck Operators, and Mine Services Miners for contract roles at a remote underground mining operation in northwestern British Columbia. This camp-based, fly-in, fly-out position offers a 13 days on / 13 days off rotation with day and night shifts.

Candidates should have at least 2 years of underground mining experience, a High School Diploma, and a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

STRIVE is recruiting experienced Underground Miners, Underground Haul Truck Operators, and Mine Services Miners for contract opportunities at a remote underground mining operation in northwestern British Columbia.

We are recruiting across multiple underground functions, including Mine Services and Underground Truck Operations. Placement and compensation will be based on underground mining experience, qualifications, equipment experience, certifications, and overall skill level.

This is a fly-in, fly-out, camp-based opportunity working a 13 days on / 13 days off rotation, with rotating day and night shifts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Depending on your experience and assigned underground function, responsibilities may include:

• Demonstrate strong safety leadership and actively contribute to a positive underground safety culture
• Conduct workplace inspections, identify hazards, and follow established safe work procedures
• Perform pre-operational and post-operational equipment inspections and basic maintenance
• Operate underground haul trucks and other underground mobile equipment safely and efficiently
• Support underground production objectives through safe and reliable haulage operations
• Install, extend, maintain, and repair underground mine services, including air, water, pasteline, pipelines, and dewatering systems
• Install and maintain ventilation infrastructure, including vent tubing, ventilation controls, and auxiliary fans
• Install, operate, and maintain pumps, pipelines, and associated dewatering equipment
• Construct and maintain underground infrastructure, work platforms, barricades, and utility installations
• Assist with underground road maintenance, housekeeping, and maintaining safe access throughout the mine
• Operate support equipment such as scissor lifts, telehandlers, personnel carriers, forklifts, service vehicles, loaders, or similar equipment where qualified
• Maintain accurate records and communicate equipment, infrastructure, or service issues to supervisors and crew members
• Work collaboratively with Production, Development, Maintenance, and Technical Services teams
• Support emergency response and mine rescue activities where qualified

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 2 years of underground mining experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
• Strong understanding of underground mining hazards, procedures, and safe work practices
• Experience operating underground heavy equipment, haul trucks, or working in underground mine services
• Ability to complete equipment and workplace inspections
• Ability to read mine drawings, maps, and/or service installation plans as required
• Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, camp-based environment
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Physically capable of performing demanding underground work, including walking, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in confined environments
• Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol testing

ASSETS

• Underground Common Core or equivalent underground miner training
• Experience operating Sandvik Z50 and/or Sandvik TH550B underground haul trucks
• Underground Mine Services experience
• Experience with pumps, piping, dewatering, ventilation, compressed air, and underground utilities
• Experience operating scissor lifts, telehandlers, forklifts, loaders, boom trucks, or other underground support equipment
• Fall Protection certification
• Confined Space certification
• Elevated Work Platform certification
• Underground Supervisor Certification
• Mine Rescue Team experience
• Strong mechanical aptitude and underground infrastructure experience

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a remote, camp-based underground mining position in northwestern British Columbia (Kitimat-Stikine). Contractors work a 13-day work rotation, followed by 13 days off. The schedule includes rotating 12-hour day and night shifts.

The work is physically demanding and takes place in an underground mining environment requiring full PPE. Successful candidates must be comfortable working 12-hour shifts in varying underground conditions and contributing to a safety-focused, team-oriented operation.
