Job summary

Northern Strands Group of Companies is seeking an Underground Miner / Equipment Operator to safely operate underground mining equipment across our mine sites in Saskatchewan. This full-time role requires a strong safety record, the ability to work day and night shifts, and a collaborative approach with Maintenance and Operations teams.

Responsibilities include operating scoops, alpine miners, bolters and other equipment, following procedures, and contributing to rehab and belt-line

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Two years in underground Potash setting preferred.
• Experience running continuous miners, alpine miners, scoops, bolters, scalers and other underground mining equipment is preferred.
• Strong safety record and commitment to safety, teamwork, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Carry out duties safely and efficiently as part of a collaborative team.
• Participate in safety meetings and inspections; follow SOPs.
• Operate scoops, alpine miners, drum cutters, bolters, scalers and other mining equipment.
• Install belt lines; perform rehab work as required.
• Communicate with Maintenance and Operations departments; perform other onsite duties as required.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Carry out the duties safely and efficiently as a collaborative team player
• Take part in safety meetings and inspections, and follow standard operating procedures
• Operate scoops, alpine miners, drum cutters, flexiveyors, and other mining equipment
• Operate bolting and scaling machines
• Install belt lines
• Perform rehab work as required
• Communicate with Maintenance and Operations departments
• Performing other onsite duties as required

What You Bring To The Table

• Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
• A minimum of two (2) years experience in an underground Potash setting
• Training and experience running continuous miners, alpine miners, scoops, bolters, scalers and other underground mining equipment is preferred
• Strong safety record and commitment to safety, teamwork, and collaboration
• Ability to work both day and night shifts
• A great attitude and work ethic
• Commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace
• Valid General Mine Safety Awareness - GMSA would be considered an asset
• Ability to work collaboratively with other team members, site staff, and contractors
• Must display credibility and integrity to maintain the respect of superiors, subordinates, and peers
• Strong time-management skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to understand and follow instructionsn>li> Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Mechanically inclined with a strong aptitude for hands-on work
• Physically fit and able to safely lift and handle heavy loads as required
• Possess a positive and professional attitude, set a high standard, and convey professionalism at all times
• Any valid safety-related training certificates would be considered an asset (i.e., WHMIS, forklift, fall protection, etc.)
• Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
