Job summary

Blackline Civil Inc. is seeking an Excavator Operator for civil construction projects in Alberta. The role focuses on precise excavation around live utilities and installation of underground water, sewer, and storm systems.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of excavator experience in underground or civil construction, with proven ability to work around live utilities, read grade stakes and plans, and maintain strict safety standards on site.

Qualifications

2+ years of excavator experience in underground or civil construction.
Experience working around live utilities.
Read grade stakes, plans and utility drawings.

Responsibilities

Operate excavators for trenching, backfilling, grading, and utility installation.
Safely expose existing underground utilities.
Work around live gas, electrical, water, and telecom lines.
Follow grade stakes, trench depths, and site plans with precision.
Coordinate closely with pipe layers, labourers, and supervisors.
Conduct daily pre-trip inspections and routine equipment maintenance.
Maintain trench safety in compliance with regulations (shoring, sloping, benching).
Ensure all work is performed according to safety standards and project specs.
