Job summary

Uppal Building Supplies is seeking an experienced truck driver to operate long-haul routes across Canada. The role requires a Class 1 or A license, ability to plan routes with GPS, and thorough pre-trip/post-trip inspections.

You will load, secure, and transport goods safely while coordinating with dispatch to ensure timely deliveries. Ideal candidates have 2+ years of trucking experience, strong safety records, and familiarity with cargo documentation.

Qualifications

  • No degree, certificate or diploma required.
  • Class 1 (A) driver’s license is mandatory.
  • Forklift Operator Certification preferred.
  • Documentation and record-keeping knowledge (logbooks, reports).
  • Experience with GPS and navigation systems is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Plan or adjust driving routes to minimize fuel consumption and emissions.
  • Drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
  • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspections.
  • Oversee vehicle condition, tires, lights and brakes; maintain safety protocols.
  • Load and unload goods and secure cargo with tarps.
  • Receive and relay information to central dispatch.
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled and fuel usage.

Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
  • Mountain driving expertise

  • Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment

  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
  • Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
