Summary: This is a seasonal position, active from April through November each year. Driving a commercial motor vehicle requires a higher level of knowledge, experience, skills, and physical abilities than that required to drive a non-commercial vehicle. Candidates must demonstrate efficient navigation, dependability, and a strong commitment to completing tasks safely and quickly. Familiarity with DOT regulations is essential. The role involves loading and unloading various farm vehicles using different types of trailers and carriers and safely transporting agricultural tanks after properly reading and understanding chemical labels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
- Operate a tractor trailer to transport farm equipment safely
- Connect and disconnect various trailers and carriers based on the equipment being hauled
- Inspect trucks and trailers and report mechanical issues to the supervisor
- Fill and transport water and/or fertilizer tanks
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding scheduling changes or updates
- Maintain a clean driving record and promptly report any violations
- Secure loads using chains and follow all safety procedures
- Perform minimal maintenance on tank trailers
- Stay informed on DOT regulations and safety procedures for new equipment
Additional Responsibilities
- Complete Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports and submit copies to dispatch
- Report on mechanical issues immediately
- Wear required safety equipment
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures as needed
- Must possess a valid commercial driver license with a clean record
- Must be available to work extended hours, including weekends, during the seasonal period
Language Skills: Ability to understand verbal instructions and written documents such as safety rules, labels, SDS, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Must be able to understand, read and write English to document results on forms and logs.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Capable of using practical judgment to follow instructions provided in written, verbal, or diagrammatic formats
Education and/or Experience: Experienced driving a commercial vehicle as well as transporting various kinds of farm vehicles with the use of low bed trailers and implement carriers. Commercial Drivers License

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 25 to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee will be exposed to noise environment and ear protection is available. The employee is expected to practice safe lifting procedures as instructed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee may be exposed to high precarious places, toxic, or caustic chemicals and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Work is performed in a high dust environment. Workers may be exposed to work in tight and/or confined claustrophobic spaces.
