Job description

Summary :

The Truck and Coach Mechanic in Training will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of our trucks and trailers. This position will report directly to the Regional Operations Manager. The Mechanic’s responsibilities will also include ordering parts, keeping inventory, conducting diagnostic tests, assisting technicians, as well as any other shop-related tasks.

Schedule :

  • Daily reporting to the Timmins, Ontario Hub with service calls into the field via a company provided vehicle when needed.
  • Winter / Summer 4 ON 4 OFF, to support operations and business needs.

Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Assist with the overall compression and fleet operations in the region, while contributing to a safe working environment.
  • Perform minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers.
  • Perform regular diagnostic tests on trucks, diagnose problems and schedule repairs.
  • Commercial vehicle inspections on trailers as well as quarterly inspections and CNG’s.
  • Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing components and part upgrades.
  • Maintain parts inventory.
  • Perform other miscellaneous tasks assigned by the Regional Manager / Supervisor

Requirements :

  • The best suited candidate will have a minimum of 2-5 years’ truck and coach experience.
  • 6000+ hours needed to obtain a Certificate of Qualification (310T Red Seal) is a must.
  • In the process of obtaining the Certificate of Qualification (310T Red Seal)
  • Experience maintaining Cummins, Paccar engines and Kenworth trucks.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair engines, electrical systems, and knowledge of brake components.
  • Excellent organizational and technical communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence and to deal tactfully with a wide range of personalities.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform repetitive movements at times.
  • Exceptional work ethic with a positive, analytical, and safe work attitude.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be a safety minded, a self-starter, and a team player.
