Job summary

Irving Woodlands in Fredericton, NB, invites applications for Crew Leaders to guide tree planting teams this summer. You’ll lead a crew of 10–14, ensure safety, manage logistics, and coach planters to hit daily production targets.

This is outdoor, physically demanding work with autonomy to motivate and develop your team. Pay is up to $260 per day, commensurate with experience and leadership, with strong potential to grow into more responsibilities within J.D. Irving Limited.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:

  • Be the go-to leader for your planting crew
  • Keep operations running smoothly and safely
  • Support planters with logistics, morale, and problem‑solving
  • Take pride in the success of your team and the trees you help plant

As a Crew Leader, you’ll play a key role in the success of our tree planting operations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a crew of 10–14 tree planters with energy, focus, and accountability
  • Promoting and enforcing safety standards to ensure a safe work environment at all times
  • Maintaining high planting quality through regular coaching and follow‑up with planters
  • Managing daily job site operations, including logistics, troubleshooting, and crew coordination
  • Driving productivity by motivating your team to meet or exceed daily production targets
Qualifications
  • A clean driver’s abstract – you’ll be trusted to operate crew vehicles safely
  • The ability to obtain a class 4 license (optional)
  • Tree planting experience – a strong asset, but not a deal‑breaker
  • The ability to keep up in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment
  • A willingness to work hard outdoors in all conditions—rain or shine
  • A self‑starting attitude with the drive to motivate and lead your team
  • Strong leadership skills – you know how to guide, support, and inspire others
