Job summary

Canadian Natural Resources Limited is seeking a Treasury Student in Calgary to gain hands-on experience in cash management, banking setups, and treasury reporting. You will work with mentors in Accounting and Finance to develop practical skills during an 8 or 12 month work term.

Ideal candidates are in their 2nd or 3rd year of Accounting, Finance or Business, with a strong eye for detail and communication. The role includes competitive salary and relocation considerations as outlined by policy.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in 2nd or 3rd year of a degree program in Accounting, Finance or Business.
• Preference for candidates aiming for CPA or CFA designation.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset.

Responsibilities

• Assist with vendor banking setup and maintenance for electronic payments and cash receipts.
• Support daily cash management activities, including deposits, payment processing, and maintaining accurate documentation.
• Respond to inquiries related to payments, cash receipts and disbursements with accurate record keeping.
• Assist with Treasury reporting, bank reconciliations, foreign exchange rate updates, and transaction analysis.
• Participate in Treasury projects gaining exposure to cash management, financial controls, and corporate finance accounting processes.

• Job location: Calgary, AB – Head Office
• Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours/day (Monday – Friday)
• Term lengths: 8 & 12 months
• Term start: May 2027

Key Accountabilities:

• Participate in Treasury projects while gaining exposure to cash management, financial controls, and corporate finance accounting processes

What You Bring to the Role:

• Currently enrolled in your 2nd or 3rd year of a degree program in Accounting, Finance or Business, with a preference given to candidates intending to pursue an accounting designation (e.g. CPA) or other finance designation (e.g. CFA)
• Attention to detail and analytical skills
• Strong work ethic and effective time management and communication skills
• Familiarity with:

  • Financial markets
  • Research strategies and analytical thinking
  • Microsoft Office Suite
