Job summary

Danfoss Drives Canada is seeking an engineer to lead start-up, commissioning, and optimization of AC drives at customer sites across Canada. The role combines hands-on problem solving with customer partnership to ensure peak system performance and uptime.

You will diagnose issues, configure systems for efficiency, and collaborate with sales, training, and other teams. Travel up to 75% including international assignments is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/ electronic engineering or automation, or relevant industry experience
• Experience with variable frequency drives, commissioning or industrial automation projects
• Industries such as HVAC, energy, oil & gas, metals, or power conversion
• Knowledge of electrical systems, drive controls, and system integration
• Familiarity with PLC systems and industrial communication protocols; UL508A a plus
• Experience with EPlan P8 and AutoCAD to create/modify drawings
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills
• Willingness to travel frequently (up to 75%), including international assignments

Responsibilities

• Lead start-up, commissioning, and optimization of AC drives and drive systems at customer sites
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues with hands-on troubleshooting and testing
• Provide application expertise to ensure systems run at peak efficiency
• Manage on-site service delivery, documentation, and coordination of installation and commissioning
• Collaborate with internal teams to support sales, training, and continuous improvement
